Sales
The mistake I made on my startup journey up until now was only focusing on the product.
The concept of having a scalable idea and building it for people to find no longer exists.
We are 24 years removed from the “dot com” bubble. The internet and social media markets are much more mature.
People only care about something if they feel it can help them directly.
The problem is online marketing has become oversaturated. If you do direct sales, it comes across as spam.
Enter: Indirect Sales.
This strategy works best with storytelling because everyone loves a good story. A good story never feels like direct sales or spam.
This is why I decided to start this blog and only have a presence on X and LinkedIn, as both platforms are still primarily text-based.
Chasing trends of algorithms on IG and TikTok works extremely well when it works. But the chances are very low, and those are the most competitive markets, which means you have to invest a lot more time and money to create content that stands out.
I believe those two channels along with YouTube are arguably the most valuable. However, in my situation, being a better writer than a content producer, I prefer to build an audience based on my strengths on X and LinkedIn.
