Life Itinerary Design

“The single most important decision you make is where you live.”

When it comes to freedom I believe freedom of movement is what I value above all and it’s going to become more and more important over the next decade.

My ultimate goal is to have 5 passports:

1. USA ✅

2. Netherlands (can apply in 3 years)

3. St. Kitts and Nevis (CBI)

4. Argentina/Mexico (birth)

5. Mauritius?

#1 I am American.

#2 My wife is Dutch and our daughters have Dutch passports, so based on a recent law I can not only obtain residency but that residency now counts towards citizenship - if we get married and simply prove we have lived with each other throughout our relationship I can actually apply for naturalization in just 3 years. The best part is the 3 years still applies if we live outside of the Netherlands.

This passport will be key because we can then settle anywhere in the EU.

#3 CBI = Citizenship By Investment

When it comes to learning about CBI I’ve been following a YouTube channel called Nomad Capitalist and recently discovered another one called Wealthy Expat.

The Caribbean countries have CBI programs where you can invest from $115,000 (Saint Lucia) to become a citizen - there are other CBI programs around the world but living in the Caribbean is somewhere that makes sense for us for the sun and the distance between the U.S. & the Netherlands.

It’s becoming such an important market that you can now go through the entire process with https://citizenx.com - a website with an user experience so good I actually added the founder and told him - only downside is they take 10% of the application cost.

#4 Citizenship By Birth

This one is something I only came across 2 years ago and have been seeing more about it this year.

It refers to Jus Soli - which means if you’re born in the country you automatically become a citizen. Citizenship by birth is common in the Americas and citizenship by blood (parents or grandparents) is common in the rest of the world.

In certain countries in Central & South America if you give birth in that country, not only does your child automatically become a citizen, but the parents also become eligible to become citizens.

Argentina has the fastest route which is essentially instant - if you move to Buenos Aires for example and give birth there, the parents can apply for citizenship 2 weeks later.

The following countries have the shortest timetable:

Brazil the parents can apply after 1 year.

Colombia the parents can apply after 2 years.

Mexico the parents can apply after 2 years.

Nicaragua the parents can apply after 2 years.

Panama the parents can apply after 3 years

Ecuador the parents can apply after 4 years.

With Spanish being the second language I can speak the best and the third language we will have our daughters learn Central & South America are high on the list.

If we decide to have a third baby it will be 5 years from now, so we have shortlisted Argentina & Mexico and will see how markets play out over the next 5 years.

#5 Mauritius is also under the CBI but it’s pretty expensive and this one isn’t on the CitizenX website 🤔

The Mauritius passport provides access to a couple of countries that the others do not provide access to and it’s also somewhere we would live.

That one is up in the air and when it comes to Africa the most important thing is we have residence permits there so the 5th spot will be driven by the market to fill in any gaps the first 4 don’t provide access to.

With these 5 passports I would be able to access virtually the entire world for 90 days without a visa.

As we are homeschooling our daughters they would also have access to those 5 passports and we would have a handful of residence permits elsewhere, which would give them an unfair advantage when designing their life itinerary.

#4 I believe will drive a strong market of birth tourism over the next decade where citizens of countries with weaker passports can strategically improve their access to the world.

https://www.passportindex.org is the website I use to view the visa free access of passports in order to build plan a portfolio with complete freedom of movement.

I believe building a Personal Holding Company is the best way to acquire a portfolio of passports which gives me and my family untethered access to the world.
